BARD DAVOL® - SorbaFix

Bard Davol has redefined absorbable fixation

The SorbaFix™ Absorbable Fixation System is unique from its design, to its delivery, to its easy-to-see color.
It is indicated for prosthetic mesh fixation and the approximation of soft tissue in laparoscopic and open surgeries. The SorbaFix™ Absorbable Fixation System is pre-loaded with either 15 or 30 absorbable fasteners that are deployed via a 5mm, low-profile delivery system.

Shaft tip is applied to tissue with adequate pressure. Piloting tip creates engagement space. Fastener is driven into tissue. Design prevents piloting tip from extending more than half of the fastener depth. Fastener releases from tip.
SorbaFix™ Absorbable Fixation System supports a wide array of procedures and mesh products...

..with Sepramesh™ IP Composite in Laparoscopic Ventral Procedures.

• Provides secure fixation in laparoscopic ventral procedures.

• Penetrates and holds larger pore meshes as well as dual layer and/or smaller pore meshes.

• PLA fasteners are easy to visualize and fully-absorbable.

• Compatible in laparoscopic ventral procedures with a variety of meshes, including Sepramesh™ IP Composite, Composix™ LP Mesh and Ventrio™ Hernia Patch.

• Use of the SorbaFix™ Absorbable Fixation System instead of suturing on the periphery reduces procedure times.

• Extensive lateral dissection is not required.

• Pretensioning of mesh is recommended.

Shear strength retention illustrates degradation of fastener over time. Fastener retains 100% of its strength within the first 2 months, providing secure fixation during the healing period.sorbafix-12

Logarithmic regression curve of mean force of lap-shear strength as a function of time. 74% of the 12 week strength is achieved by 2 weeks post-operatively.

At 4 weeks post implantation, SorbaFix™ fasteners show rapid reperitonealization and incorporation into the tissue.

Note the smooth head of the fastener with no exposed points.

Minimal degradation of the fastener during the healing period, along with aggressive tissue in-growth, maintains burst pressures at a minimum of 7x the Intraabdominal Pressure (IAP) requirement needed for the repair.
